Whether you are a courier employed by an independent contractor or an owner-operator, you can feel justly proud of the contribution you make – both to your local community and to the whole U.S. economy!
Who ya gonna call?
To provide this vital service and meet the demands of clients, a courier has to be competent, ambitious and responsible. But top of the list is flexible – because when an unscheduled, urgent delivery is needed, ‘Who ya gonna call?’ Well, not ghost-busters that’s for sure – this is a job for the ever-vigilant local courier! He or she is always on call to meet the special needs of the community.
Wheels of business
Couriers collect and deliver important business documents, letters and packages that need to be moved around quickly within a local area. Sometimes there is a handy back load to bring back and sometimes there is not, but you can rely on a courier to get the job done. If couriers were not there to lubricate the wheels of business, who knows how many real estate deals would fail, how many crucial legal documents would arrive too late and how many other calamities would occur?
Responsibility
Customers place a great deal of faith in couriers and it’s a job with a lot of responsibility attached to it. When clients need to send something of value they are often unwilling to trust any other means of delivery. Only a specialized courier is good enough for certain medical supplies, small electronics, machine and auto parts and even human transplant organs. When a customer has an item that must be delivered within a strict time-sensitive period, it is always a case of courier to the rescue!
Back load
It is not a 9-5 job and some days you are so incredibly busy you don’t have even a minute to try and arrange a back load – never mind getting a break for lunch. Calls for urgent deliveries can happen at any time of the day or night and people in the community rely heavily on the fact that there is always a courier who can help.
Then there are days when it seems as if the whole world has gone to sleep and the phone does not ring for hours. However, this does not mean that an independent courier is able to rest, because a smart courier uses this time for future planning. On so-called ‘quiet’ days couriers can be busy networking and checking out potential back load locations within their main operating area.
Modern heroes
Without independent owner-operators, the thousands of companies that use a courier service every day would be in big trouble. If the courier service stopped altogether it would have a huge negative impact on the whole US economy.
Like Wild Bill Cody and others who played a part in most of the important chapters of our early history – today’s America now depends on the flexibility, the service and the independence of hundreds of couriers every day!
